Ellipsis Health is creating cutting-edge AI/ML products that solve healthcare staffing issues and administrative burdens using conversational AI and our patented voice biomarker technology in the delivery of better healthcare for everyone. We are currently looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in optimizing conversational AI systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in deploying and fine-tuning large language models, building scalable NLP pipelines, and improving the efficiency of conversational models in production environments. This role will be instrumental in ensuring our platform’s AI-driven interactions are both fast and reliable for users, including healthcare providers and patients.

Ellipsis Health is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to remote candidates for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

​

• Design, refine, and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to improve the quality and efficiency of conversational AI responses.

• Enhance ML pipelines for reduced latency, improved response time, and increased system reliability in real-time, high-volume environments.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to build scalable processing systems for deploying and managing NLP, ASR, and TTS models.

REQUIREMENTS

​

• Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of experience in ML engineering with a strong focus on search and RAG-based solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to optimize ML pipelines for speed, scalability, and performance in real-time applications.

• Deep knowledge of transformer-based models.

• Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch (or similar frameworks), and cloud-based ML deployment (AWS, GCP, Azure), plus containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Understanding of speech recognition and synthesis processes (a plus).

• Understanding of healthcare privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements (a plus).​
