We are currently looking for a seasoned DevOps engineer with significant experience in operating commercial-grade consumer-facing services, APIs, and web apps that leverage Machine Learning tools and technologies. In this role you will work closely with Engineering and ML teams to build a highly reliable, scalable, available, performant, and cost-effective production environment along with similar ones for development and quality assurance. It is a great opportunity to build the next generation of our app that will be used by millions of users all over the world.
Ellipsis Health is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to remote candidates for this role. However, they must be in the U.S.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Build new Kubernetes clusters and update existing ones with new images

Release management, CI/CD, and GitOps

Build and enhance service monitoring

Set up access control, audit logging, and other security and compliance related configurations

Develop a robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity tools and processes

Help maintain 99.99% or higher availability SLA

Service cost modeling and ongoing cost optimization to drive down our service cost
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
-
5+ years of industry experience
-
Expert-level experience in deploying and operating services in Google Cloud (GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, IAM, Networking, Firewall, Security Configurations, etc.

Solid DevOps experience with AWS

Expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Code using Terraform / OpenTofu

Programming expertise in Python and shell scripting

Experience with the standard tools of the trade. For example, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Datadog, PagerDuty, New Relic, etc.

Experience with building and operating LLM services in Kubernetes including provisioning resources for model training in a cost-effective way

Some experience with a NoSQL database, cost modeling
NICE TO HAVE

Knowledge of FHIR, HL7, and HIPAA or other regulatory standards (e.g. SOC-2, HITRUST)

DevOps experience with Microsoft Azure
SALARY AND BENEFITS
We offer competitive salary and benefits, including 401k matching up to a certain percentage of your salary, health, vision, and dental insurance, and very flexible paid time off. The typical salary range for this role is $150,000 to $190,000 USD. The amount offered will be determined by a variety of factors including but not necessarily limited to your individual skills, qualifications, and past experience relative to the requirements of the role.
